Student success statement
“When obedience becomes our goal, it is no longer an irritation; instead of a stumbling block, it becomes a building block.”
Reflection:
What this quote means is that when having a goal to be obedient in any situation no longer becomes a hard choice for you because when you tell yourself that you want to choose the right and that means doing the right thing then every time you are obedient it is a block to help get higher and higher to where you want to be in life and as you keep being obedient the better people will see you as a loyal person they can trust.
Example:
For example when someone tells you to not do something and you respect what they say then they will notice you are obedient and will open the door for opportunities like being trusted to be on your own and follow the rules.

“Obedience is the great test of life”

Thomas S. Monson
Reflection:
What this quote is telling us is that every event that occurs in your life is a test to see if you have obedience or not. It also says that life has many types of test based on the situation that occurs to you but the most important and greatest test that you will have to figure out is an obedience test. The test can be either not cheating on a test or cheating on a test.
Example:

An example is if you know that what you are doing is wrong then at that moment you should know whether you will obey what not to do or you will disobey and do what is the wrong thing to do.

“Obedience … is the primary object of all sound education”
Elizabeth Missing Sewell

Reflection:
What this quote means to me is that you have to have obedience to be able to have an education because when you’re in school teachers are going to be explain things to you and giving you directions on how to do your work and your homework so the primary object is obedience because you need it to know what to do and get an education.

Example

For example if there is a new lesson the teacher is teaching you have to have obedience to know what to do and listen to the lesson to do your work.

“Obedience sums up our entire duty”

Hosea Ballou

Reflection: what this quote means to me is that everything thing we do in this world in reflected on obedience. Our duty is to be obedient to what others tell you to do like your parents. Being obedient is following commands and respecting those orders and taking the responsibility to do those.

Example: for example when people have jobs they are going to have duties to fulfill and that means listening and doing what others tell you to do like your boss. So you are supposed to respect those orders and do them.

“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise”

Benjamin Franklin

Reflection: what I think this quote means is a rested mind will bring you in the morning all the energy you need to face the world and its daily challenges. Also that being well rested lets you think, react, and stay focused throughout anyone’s daily routine, or work. Getting at least 8 or more hours of sleep gets you enough energy to face the day that heads your way because being tired and drowsy makes a day a lot harder to face.

Example: for example if you have a test tomorrow for school and if you sleep early you mind will be rested and it will be ready for that test tomorrow. But if your mind is not rested you won’t be able to focus at all and the test will be hard to do.

"A wise man ought to realize that health is his most valuable possession"
Hippocrates

reflection:
What this quote by Hippocrates means is that health is a valuable thing that people should care for and respect it because without being healthy you cant function properly and if you cant function then you cant do anything. Being healthy is very important because if you have poor health than a person is more likely to get sick quicker and easier. some ways to have a healthy health is to be physically active, having a good diet, and having the right amount of vitamins in your system.

Example:
For Example if someone is has a sports game but their sick then they body wont be able to function properly.

“Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right”

W. Clement Stone

Reflection: what this quote means is that to not be afraid to do what’s right in any situation. Also have the courage to say no because you have to have the responsibility to take care of yourself and know what is right from wrong and you have to have courage to stand up for yourself and say no to things that you know are going to affect you in a negative way.

Example: for example when it comes to those situations where people offer you things like for example drugs or alcohol you need to have courage to say no and stand up for yourself.

“Courage is being scared to death and doing the right thing anyway”
Chae Richardson

Reflection: what I think this quote means is that being scared to do something right is called courage but doing something that’s wrong and you still do is not courage. Some synonyms of courage are fearlessness, bravery, nerve, and daring, showing courage takes a lot of confidence in you.

An example of showing courage is standing up for some who is right and not fearing what’s the outcome of what you say.

“I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating”

Sophocles

What I think this quote means is that failing honorably is a better feeling than winning but by cheating. It feels better because when you cheat you know you are lying and cheating and you will probably feel guilty and that guilt will be with you until you die. But if you fail with honor it won’t matter because you did your best and you didn’t cheat. Lastly failing with honor shows other people that they are a trustworthy and respectful person.

For example if there is a test and you didn’t study just fail with honor and face the consequences rather than cheat on that test.

“Attitude is the minds paintbrush, it can color and situation.

Reflection: what I think this quote means is attitude changing any mood either your mood or someone else’s mood. The point is that attitude changes the way people act and the way others act by taking the first step to change your attitude.
