responsibilities
They perform
surgeries on the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs that are found in
the chest. Other names these surgeons can be called are cardiovascular surgeons,
general thoracic surgeons and also congenital heart surgeons. They can treat

artery disease or blockages of the arteries in the heart.

Educational requirements
Have to graduate medical school and most commonly complete a
five year general surgery residency.
After, they have to go through a cardiothoracic surgery residency
program for two or three years. They have to cover three years of medical
training. All students are required to graduate from medical school and have a
full residency in general surgery approved by the ACGME or royal college of physicians
and surgeons of Canada.
