Periodontist
Duties and
responsibilities:
Periodontist treat patients that have medical issues in their
gums or bones surrounding the jaw. Their duties may or may not include surgical
procedures but it does include tasks like placing implants. Also they develop
treatment plans and provide preventative care. They also may work in helping
patients if they have issues like tooth sensitivity. They work in clinics
dental schools and hospitals.
Educational
requirements:
Becoming a periodontist takes the same educational path as
becoming a dentist like completing a dental school followed by residency in
periodontics. Two years of prior college study and a dental admissions test is
required to enter in a dental school. Dental
school usually takes about four years to graduate from but in those years you
will learn laboratory instructions.
Average salary:
$101,180 - $245,538
Reflection: I wouldn't want to become one because it doesn't really interest me.
