They care for patients who are having trouble breathing for
example respiratory disease like asthma and emphysema. Also provide emergency care
to patients that are suffering from a heart attack, or shock.
They teach patients how to use treatments.
Average salary: $40,000 - $75,000
Educational requirements:
Respiratory therapists typically need an
associate’s degree; Respiratory therapists are licensed. Respiratory therapy programs
include courses in human anatomy and physiology, chemistry, physics,
microbiology, pharmacology, and mathematics. High school students interested in applying to
respiratory therapy programs should take courses in health, biology,
mathematics, chemistry, and physics.
